Weekend Wanderlust : Cusco, Peru
We’re celebrating the end of Travel Planning week at Little World Adventure with the resurgence of our Weekend Wanderlust column. There’s no better time to plan fake trips like January of 2021. But seriously, I’ve been planning fake, or let’s call them “potential", trips since I was little. I would spend hours on our Rand McNally navigation program in the late 90s, just building road trips that I would never go on. I was very cool.
Cusco has been on my list for the past 10+ years. Tucked high in the Andes Mountain range with its beautiful buildings and vendors selling colorful goods and fruits at the market. I can’t wait to visit one day.
Let the weekend wanderlust begin… CUSCO, PERU!
SLEEP : There might not be many Airbnbs in Cusco, but this one looks just perfect! Within the historic center and walking distance to the main square. Sign me up!
EAT : Ceviche at Morena. Or maybe Saralawa, a creamy soup from Cusco. Or snacks and fruit from the market. I can’t decide and won’t need to since I will try them all.
DO : Top three on my travel bucket list? See Machu Picchu with my own two eyes. It’s the only reason the town of Cusco came onto my travel radar. It looks magical and I can’t wait for it to happen one day.
PLAY : One look at the Rodadero Slides and I know my kids would love me forever for taking them there! Sliding down smooth slopes of the hills above Cusco sounds like something they would delight in and I would watch with my eyes half closed. But, I’m always a sucker for trying something new, so in the end, I’m sure I would try it!
TREAT : A trip to Choco Museo, a chocolate museum and factory, sounds like the perfect spot for parents and kids alike. Anytime we can sneak history and learning into a treat is a win win for us!
I love ending Weekend Wanderlusts with cookbook suggestions. I might not be traveling there just yet, but at least these cookbooks will bring a little of the town into my kitchen.
