What I Can't Travel Without - Cynthia

What I Can't Travel Without - Cynthia

As much as I love to share about my travel tips and tricks, I equally love to learn them. That’s why I started the series, “What I Can’t Travel Without” where travelers from around the globe share what items always earn sacred space in their luggage. I shared my 5 favorite travel items in this post. And today, we have our first contributor, Cynthia from Sharing the Wander. Now, I’m going to turn the post over to her…. “What I Can’t Travel Without - Cynthia”!

I’m Cynthia from Sharing the Wander. We are a family of four based on the East Coast. We are researching and planning and crossing our fingers for a Fall 2021 Family Year Out.  If all goes as planned our daughters will be 4 and 6 when we head out.

Honorary “Item” - My Kids

I did a lot of solo travel when I was younger, now I’m so excited to have these munchkins along for the ride! I love watching their faces as they experience new things. We have lots of fun brainstorming where to go and what treats we might try together.  We live among some New England “hills”, I can’t wait for them to see what a real mountain looks like!

Ironman Timex Watch

I love this watch- I never take it off.  It has the date and day of the week, which is so helpful when the days start blending together (hello 2020?). My favorite feature is the two time zones, so I can keep the main face set to the time where I am, but see what time it is at home with the push of a button. Plus I love the bright colors. Since it’s water resistant I never have to worry about it getting wet. It has survived everything!

Travel Scarf

This blue scarf is my travel favorite. I picked it up in Thailand. It’s lightweight, with a nubby texture. It’s perfect for covering my neck and chest in hot places (no more sunburn!), or as an extra layer when it’s chilly, tucked into a fleece. It can be used over my head or shoulders if I need to cover up.  Add in a pair of sunglasses and I’m ready to go!

Portable Charging Bank

I used to be that girl in the airport bathroom standing by the one plug waiting for my cell phone to charge just a few more percentage points…  no more! This portable charger means I can recharge my phone more than three times a day if needed. Which is essential since it has all my train tickets, hotel details, maps, and of course, I use it constantly for photos. I can’t go a full day running around New York City without a recharge, so this charging bank is always in my day bag.

Family Passport holder

When I was single I had a lovely gold passport holder. Then we added my husband’s passport, then my first daughter’s got jammed in there. When we became four it was past time for an upgrade! This family passport holder holds up to six passports, but I think it’s perfect for a family of four. It’s got a pen in the middle, so no more scrounging for a pen for those arrival forms, and then a handy pocket on the front for boarding cards or arrivals paperwork. It holds our passports, Global Entry cards, PADI  cards, Yellow Fever certificates, and extra passport photos. Plus it’s got a tuck pocket for copies of birth certificates or whatever else you might need. I wish it came in more color options, but otherwise it’s fantastic. It keeps us all organized. No more leaving boarding passes in the bathroom. Not that I’ve done that. Much.
